Distribution Center
Yesterday was the final push to clear out the condo.
I met the movers there at 7, made it up to the Lake by 9:30, headed back home before noon, and the movers left my house at 2.
I was napping by 2:15.
While at the Lake, we had the movers move various pieces of furniture in, up, down, around, and out. We even had them play one of my mother’s favorite games – her version of musical chairs. In her version, players look for available bedrooms, rather than available chairs, while carrying mattresses and box springs. Yesterday’s move involved moving the mattress set from “Memere & Pepere’s” room into the truck, the set from the master bedroom into “Memere & Pepere’s” room, and the set from the condo up to the master. Since the headboard from the condo was moved into the “Tempur-Pedic” room, the bed frame under the Tempur-Pedic set was swapped with the bed frame that went with the condo headboard. This required temporarily moving the Tempur-Pedic set.
Unlike us, the movers never once complained or rolled their eyes.
And, yes, I had come up with and used an ordered list to track everything.
It all went smoothly, and the items that are awaiting distribution to other locales are now stored in my cellar and garage.
My goal is to have the garage, at least, cleared out by the first snow fall.
Of course I got an email from her today indicating that they are continuing to fine tune things by swapping a few pieces around. I’m sure they will go on doing this indefinitely. As long as she doesn’t decide to swap any more mattress sets, we’ll be good.
As the movers were leaving, one of them mentioned to me (for the second time that day) that my parents have a beautiful spot up there. That made me realize I had been so busy focusing on furniture pieces that I hadn’t even looked up at the Lake once over the course of the day.
But he’s right.
