A Lull
There are three reasons why there are occasional extended breaks between my posts.
- I’m on some getaway.
- I’m extremely busy.
- I’m in a foul mood.
Currently, I’m in a foul mood.
Nothing too earth-shattering is causing my foul mood. Mostly irritating stuff.
For instance:
- It is 28 outside. In mid March.
- A landslide of ice the full length of my roof shattered a glass table top, damaged a rail post, and may have bent the table frame and punctured the deck. I’ll let you know in May when the snow melts.
- There is a leak in the girls’ bathroom, and I’m having trouble getting the contractor to respond.
- There is mold building up in my bathroom due to the extra showers that are taking place there as a result of the above.
- The guy out in Nevada who bought a soda and bag of chips out of a vending machine with my credit card has caused several telephone calls between me and the credit card company. The last one requiring a very firm tone on my part.
- My uncle is in the hospital.
- I am a recent recipient of the worst-mother-of-the-year award from a certain teenager.
Like I said, nothing earth-shattering. (Well, I really don’t like the uncle-in-the-hospital thing.) But irritating or worrisome enough to put me off my writing game.
We will see if I can regain my sunny disposition tomorrow.
If not, I’ll be off to Florida for a few days.
One positive out of all this…. by winning the worst-mother-of-the-year award, you are automatically entered into the worst-mother-of-all-time drawing to be held later in life.
I think Mom has received a few of these, so the competition for the all-time award might be stiff.
Cheer up!! We have Matt and Megan’s wedding to look forward to.
That reminds me that something did work out well this week. I went clothes shopping (ugh) and found a million things that I liked (VERY unusual) at a reasonable price. Including a cute dress that had arrived in the store that day which will do double duty at my two July weddings.
