A Visit
While still not sunny, my disposition has improved from yesterday.
The contractor called me back, my WMOTY award has been temporarily rescinded, and I got to see my uncle. (I quickly seized my opportunity after I saw a vague maybe-it’s-okay-for-visitors message that my aunt posted.)
He looked great today, and he is planning for his release by mid-week next week. I’m not sure that’s what his doctors are planning, but I’m sure they will come around to his way of thinking.
He says he has been a very good patient and has only told one nurse to back off. The one who came in to get him up at 4:30 in the morning after he had just managed to fall asleep after a rough night. I also heard that his daughter Shannon may have had words with the doctor the day of his surgery. But, other than that, no problems.
Now hospitals are not fun places to be. He certainly had a number of interesting stories today. (My mother claimed I must have overstayed my welcome and my aunt is going to come after me.)
And being back in a hospital tends to remind you of all the previous visits you have made to hospitals that you have successfully pushed to the back of your mind. And it’s amazing how they add up. With each image, you say to yourself, “Eeeww, I’m glad that’s over.”
Here is hoping that we can soon say the same thing in this case.
