Bean Town

Meagan made a quick trip up from DC, so we headed into Boston for the afternoon on Sunday. We ate, toured Fenway, walked around the Common and Public Garden, and ate again.

Fenway

I knew the roster by heart in ’75, and not just the starting nine. I fell in love again when Tim Wakefield walked off that New York mound in ’03. When we were kids, my father took us to a few games, and we would often run into my grandfather there. How do you just run into someone at Fenway? A few times it was in the Gulf corner where I seem to remember a small standing area.  Both my father and grandfather used to buy the cheap seats and then move around the ballpark to find a better view, sometimes in a temporarily empty seat. It was so embarrassing when we got kicked out of those seats.

At the end of the tour, one of the tour guides flirted with Heather. He called her Gabriella from High School Musical, and he said he was her Troy. They then broke into a duet. I think he was around when the Sox last won the Series prior to the 2004 Series, so I don’t think I have anything to worry about.

We then headed over to the Common/Garden to see the statues, do some people watching, and take in the scenery. With my budding interest in photography, I discovered I could spend quite a bit of time (hours) doing this.

Random Kids
In addition to monuments, characters, and landscapes, I also took a bunch of pics of random kids. I have always had a huge soft spot for kids. Even the crying ones. I felt a little weird taking photos of other people’s kids, and my own kids thought it was VERY weird. When I got back home, I thought others might agree with them, so I only posted photos where you can’t see their faces.  But some of them are just SO cute, I wish I could post them.

The Family
While I stalked small children, Dave and Andres pretended they were in the NFL, and the girls did their thing modeling for selfies, lounging on a blanket, and chatting.

Photo creds to Andres
It was a great day to be in Boston.
