Knocked Down
Back during her Freshman year, a father of two of the players on Heather’s soccer team had put together a DVD of game highlights from the year. He also included a section highlighting hard hits over the course of that year. That section takes a little over 3 minutes. In that span, Heather is featured four times.
Heather happened to show me a video that her friend and teammate, Natalie, created from that portion of the DVD. (Natalie is also featured in the original DVD when, as keeper, she gets her jaw dislocated.) Using her phone, Natalie videoed just the hard hits against Heather and shared them with her.
That got me wondering if I could do something similar, but using a little more technology. After many hours of dealing with hardware failures and purchasing two different versions of software to convert the VOB files from the DVD so I could pull them into iMovie and learning to use that software, I came up with the following video. It uses the same music the father used on the original DVD and incorporates the hits he filmed. It also adds a couple filmed by my husband – one resulting in a ruptured ACL during Junior year, and the other preceding the game-winning goal in the last remaining seconds of the second overtime of the conference semi-finals during Senior year.

My first choice for the music probably would have been Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Soccer Players.
That was painful to watch. Esp the one where she tears her ACL! Cruel!
It made her “knee go weak” when she watched it.
amazing…..
