Partial Distribution
My distribution center is still pretty full, but we are making some progress.
In preparation for Heather’s move to a new place, I kept asking her if there were particular items of my mother’s that she needed or wanted. Her typical response was “I don’t know.”
Thank goodness her friend Lexi came over. Lexi had no problem going through everything and indicating what she wanted, including items that were earmarked for other people. She even took time to go through the spices.
So on September 1st (also known as Moving Day in the Boston area), I braved the streets of Somerville with a full U-Haul cargo van.
And this photo is for my niece Amber’s benefit:
The chair looks a little lopsided because it fell out of the van, and a couple of the legs broke. A little on-line shopping has solved that problem.
The Friday of Labor Day weekend, I got a little antsy and decided to set up my free table with items I knew family members would not want. I figured most of the stuff would stay there overnight until Saturday (dump day in our town), but most of it disappeared quickly. One of things that remained was a glass storage jar. At 3 AM, I heard a bunch of kids out front and wondered what they were doing. Then I heard the smash. So, at 3 in the morning, I was out in the street sweeping up glass.
Distribution activities took a small step back when my brother brought over a bunch of stuff from his condo that is eventually destined for Wisconsin. I got a little concerned when I got this text from him:
Distribution will continue this Friday when the Vermont contingent is expected to arrive, so I may post an update then.
By the way, I was back at Heather’s place yesterday hanging curtains and rearranging (and re-rearranging) her room. At one point, I went downstairs to get a tape measure and found Jenni organizing the kitchen. She commented to me “I don’t know what we are doing with all these spices.”
I hightailed it out of there.
Jeff wants deer heads. For the record, I’m also concerned commenting this.
Well, he will have to talk to Dave directly! I’m not going to provide distribution services for deer heads. I have my limits.
