The Next HONY
There is this photographer named Brandon who goes around New York photographing people in the city. In addition, he elicits from them some small snippet about themselves. This has turned into a very popular blog called Humans of New York, or HONY for short. There is even a recently published coffee table book. Many of the photos and personal stories are remarkable at conveying a sense of the people in the photos.
I think I may have found the follow-on to HONY.
It’s called SOB, short for Scarves of Boston.
Let me explain.
As a continuation of Nicole’s week long birthday celebration, we went into Boston for some shopping and dining. While Heather, Nicole, and I went into one store, Dave and Connor stayed outside. When we came out of the store, we saw Connor sprinting around and David snapping a picture of him. Then we saw David sprinting around and Connor snapping a picture of him. This went on for quite some time before they realized we were watching them.
It turns out that they noticed a lot of men in the city that day were wearing scarves. They thought it would be funny to take pictures of them. Then they thought it would be even funnier if they got in the pictures with the scarved men.
Here is a sampling of some of their artwork.
There are no accompanying personal stories (thank goodness), but can’t you see this turned into a coffee table book?
As this scene unfolded, Andres joined us. (I think he basically ran from Cambridge to Newbury Street.)
Now, you know that when three friends get together, one of them typically gets left out.
Sure enough.
I was a little concerned about Connor’s feelings, but he said he was okay.
And the three of them got along better during dinner.
I would definitely buy a SOB book
I’ll put you on the pre-order list.
